David Gordon: Bird Dog Arts
Mike Willis introduced today's guest, David Gordon. David is the managing partner of
Bird Dog Arts, located in the Tejon Outlet Mall.
Bird Dog Arts is a nontraditional gallery space striving to make art collecting a mainstream opportunity that was once considered possible only for the wealthy.
This 11,000 square foot gallery occupies three adjacent locations in the outdoor mall. It's an unusual location with an unusual take on what a art gallery is supposed to be.
Bird Dog Arts believes the arts are a necessity of life and, as all other retail offerings, should be made accessible to a broader market of consumers.
The gallery currently has a diverse collection of art including ceramics, paintings, sculptures and textiles. Currently 81 Californian artists have their wares on display, and it constantly changes.
David spoke passionately about his artists and brought his own prospective to light as to what it's like being an artist. Contrary to popular belief, most artists don't make a living selling artwork. So after a long day at work and all of the other diversions life throws at us, artists make the time to create wonderful pieces, for others to appreciate.
Bird Dog has art for every taste and budget. When you browse around, you're not made to feel like a no-nothing that doesn't belong. It truly was created for the everyday person to the serious art collector, and all points in between.
In the future, David hopes to have live demonstrations, classes and other events.
