WEEKLY BULLETIN • FEBRUARY 15, 2018
Thanks to his week's correspondent:
Mike Willis
Dear Readers,
Due to the fact that I lost my notes for this week's meeting, and the fact that my memory capacity is slightly less than that of a free thumb drive given out at the fair, this week's Spoke will be somewhat brief and possibly factually inaccurate.
Yours truly,
Willieboy

Program

John Weiss joined the Rotary Club of Morro Bay in 2001. He served as club president in 2009-2010. During his Rotary service, he developed a passion for increasing membership and for youth service. John created and presented district Membership seminars since 2010 and
he has been an instructor at PETS on “Engaging Members” for the past four years. John has personally sponsored over fifty new members.

In addition, John co-chartered the Rotary Club of Morro Bay-Eco (Charter Club President), the Morro Bay High School Interact Club, and the San Luis Obispo Rotaract Club.
John’s wife Christine is a great partner who is a charter and current member of the Rotary Club of Morro Bay – Eco.

John started out the meeting with a question to us: "Why did we join Rotary"? All the answers from Downtown Rotarians were either for "fellowship" or for "the chance to serve the community in some way". He spoke about how those two answers were the most common in  a world world-wide Rotarian poll. He went on to share his passion for Rotary, and with self-deprecating wit, some stories and experiences he'd had along the way.

John is a working Governor with retail and professional electronics stores in Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, and Buellton. John founded his company with his father in 1978 and most of the staff has between twenty and thirty years’ experience with the company and in the electronics industry.

Good news and announcements

  1. Jim Damian was presented with a Paul Harris Service Award from the Governor himself, John Weiss.
  2. Ben Stinson gave president Dave a mini cornhole game to play with.
