Good News & Announcements
Colleen McGauley resigned from CASA and is now working as a nonprofit consultant for CASA statewide! Congratulations!
Larry Reider announced the Business Leadership and Ethics Conference March 12th from 8am-1:30pm and was trying to attain 12 people to sign up and speak to some of our local students!
Garro Ellis announced that he is now a two-time grandfather! Congrats to Garro!
Nik Boone announced the birth of his and his wife’s first child at a staggering 10lbs and 2 ounces on December 18th 2018!

Our guest speaker and venue host for today was Dean Kathleen Madden of CSUB. Dean Madden announced that CSUB currently has over 11,000 students enrolled in CSUB and estimates that number to continue to grow in the coming years.
She let the Rotarians know that they are planning on a Harvey Hall Tribute Statue to be started in 2020 for the celebration of CSUB’s 50 years of being open!
We were also informed that CSUB now holds an ABET accreditation dating back to students that attended in mid-2018. An ABET accreditation stands for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, and is a very prestigious international award that Bakersfield should be proud to hold!
Dean Madden also informed us that 69 students graduated with engineering degrees in May of 2018, and of those graduates, 64% remain employed in Kern County filling the needs of local energy giants!
Her last statements let everyone know of a new building in the works called The Energy and Engineering Innovation Center! We were teased with a sneak peek rendering of the potentials this building will house and how great of an addition this would be to CSUB and Bakersfield!
