Program:
Healthcare Finance Direct
Tyler and Luke Johnson, The Cowboys of FinTech.
HFD’s goal is to serve the underserved with unsecured loans, to “say yes to everybody.” They provide financing for expensive healthcare services that are not covered by insurance, and for clientele that may not qualify for prime lending opportunities, currently serving about 25,000 clients per month. Dentistry makes up the bulk of their clientele, about 59%, with cosmetic procedures accounting for about 10%, billing over $1 Billion last year.
HFD utilizes investor money. They have found a balance that pays the provider a discounted fee for service, gives the provider a smaller profit but an opportunity to reach a clientele that otherwise would not be able to utilize their services, thus increasing the total profitability of their practice. The discounted fee enables the investors and HFD to be profitable, despite a significant percent of clientele that can’t or won’t pay.
Interest rates for loans will typically range from 5% to 25% based on credit scores, requiring zero down payment and a 24 month term. They do not do a hard credit pull, and they don’t report to credit agencies.
HFD is a “traded sector” in that they currently have no local clientele. Hopefully that will change, as this is an option for those needing expensive medical services without the available cash on hand.
