It's time to begin the annual backpack and school supplies drive for local kids of the South County Boys and Girls Club. We'll provide over 75 backpacks filled with school supplies to local elementary school kids.

3rd Annual Rotary Holiday Concert and Community Sing-A-Long December 19th at 4pm!

Nearly fifty members of the Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and Pismo Beach Rotary Clubs participated in Rotary Work Day on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Future Farmers of America (FFA) fields at Arroyo Grande High School.

Our newest inductee Gerry Martinez finds homes for rescued animals, and may house anywhere up to 10 or 15 dogs at any one time.

49th Annual Rotary Fish Fry kicks off the Arroyo Grande Harvest Festival in the Village on Friday, September 26

The members of the Rotary Club of Arroyo Grande donated 90 backpacks and supplies to fill the packs to the Boys & Girls Club of South San Luis Obispo County kids. The Rotary club members arrived to be "buddies" to the kids and help them fill their brand new backpacks.

All District 5240 Rotarians, Rotaractors & Interactors and their family and friends are invited to attend this game and special Rotary night!  This activity is designed to be a social event for District Rotarians, raise awareness and funds for Polio Plus and support our regional college women’s basketball teams.
 
3:00pm – Hospitality Reception in the big white tent behind the Gym – hosted beverages from local wineries and breweries plus some soft drinks and snacks.  Comments and introductions from Rotarians and Cal Poly Basketball Staff and Players.
 
4:00pm – Cal Poly Mustangs vs. the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos
 
Halftime – Rotarians and Fans compete on court with free throws and 3-point shooting.  A nominal fee with be charged per shot with all money going to Polio Plus. The Cal Poly Athletic Dept. will provide prizes for those that make a bucket!
 
Before, during and after the game:  Polio Plus displays will be available for viewing and Rotary and Polio Plus announcements will be made over the PA system.  There will be various ways to donate to Polio Plus that night at the game.

* Clubs and individual Rotarians are encouraged to buy a group of tickets (15 or more – applies to all ages) for $4 each.  Group orders must be completed, including payment, before the day of the event.  Group orders are required to be completed as a single order and will be mailed or left at will call under a single individual’s name.  To order call 805-756-4TIX or 1-866-Go-Stangs  A section of chair back seats will be reserved for Rotarians.

A group of Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars have formed a non-profit group to support low-income schools in the city of Valparaiso, Chile. The group, known as Scholars for Schools, is building libraries and media centers to improve children's literacy in elementary and middle schools.

Thanks to everybody's hard work, the club won 6 awards at the District 5240 Stepdown and Awards Event held on July 13. Outgoing club President Diane Aubuchon accepted the awards from outgoing District Governor Jane McClenahan.

Finally, a year after our board voted to support this great project, we have received approval for matching grant money from RI. Due to various adjustments to the project budget items and grant application which were requested first by the district, and then by RI, the approval process took some additional time and a lot of communication to wrap up.

That's right, it's time again to distribute personalized McGruff the Crime Dog books in local elementary schools to promote literacy among elementary children on the Central Coast.

Dan Cashier was named Citizen of the Year this week by the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce at its annual installation dinner for his tireless efforts to enhance the community through volunteering.

District 5240 Governor Jane McClenahan and with her husband Jack graced us with their presence last Thursday. They experienced our club's unique form of humor, much to president Diane's chagrin.

Our club sponsored a well-attended free jazz concert at Village Green in the Village of AG.

The club made off with beaucoup awards at the District 5240 Stepdown Dinner held in Ventura on June 30. Outgoing club President Clay Watkins accepted the awards from outgoing District Governor Rich Abbott.
