This Week's Meeting
The featured speaker at this week's meeting is Karen Beaudry, Career Services Manager for the Computational Finance & Risk Management Program at the University of Washington. We'll find out what CFRM is, what is needed for an education in that field, what are the career jobs, who hires graduates with these skills, as well as specifics about the programs at the U, a profile of the typical student, and more.

All members are invited to attend the Board Meeting this week. It will be at the Task Properties Building on 4th St NE starting at 5:30 pm.

Thank you to those that have signed up to sponsor the weekly breakfast. Please look ahead to January and beyond to sign up for a meeting. Partnering with another member can help. Contact Club Services Chair Jim Haugen for more information.

Hands - Only CPR
Ron Rasmussen, Lake Stevens Fire Captain/Medical Service Officer and Chair of the Club's Membership Committee provided on-site Hands-Only CPR techniques with Club members practicing on the twelve manikins.  Also, use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator) was taught during the presentation. If you witness a sudden collapse, how many people would know what to do or how to administer CPR. Quick response while waiting for First Responders to arrive could be a major difference in a person's survival.
Demonstrations in proper chest compressions was observed and taught to each member of our Club. It is important to do 100-120 compressions per minute. In the United States, over 400,000 people die each year because of unwitnessed heart attacks or sudden cardiac arrest. This is so important that we hope to have an annual review of CPR at our club every year so that members can be prepared if an emergency arises.  After learning about the proper techniques to use on chest compressions, the members were given instructions in how to use the AED.
