Stories
This Week's Meeting
The program this week is Be Grateful for What You Have presented by Todd Duitsman. Todd was injured body surfing in Hawaii five years ago. He has a very inspiring story.

We will also have special visitors who have traveled over 2,500 miles to see us. Let's welcome them with a special Lake Stevens greeting!

Thank you to those that have signed up to sponsor the weekly breakfast. Please look ahead to August and beyond to sign up for a meeting. Partnering with another member can help. Contact Club Services Chair Jim Haugen for more information. Members, see the email about signing up for specific dates.

PHOTO CONTEST: Be the first person to correctly identify from where the photo at the top of this bulletin and at the top of our website was taken from by 7:30 am Friday, August 9th. Send your guess to the Editor.
Additional Coin Quest Sponsors
Many thanks to the Dyer and Hole Families for their support of this year's Viking Coin Quest.

Without their's and all of our sponsors we wouldn't be able to support our community the way we do.
Interact 2018-19
Club member and Interact Advisor Kristin Odegaard updated our members last Friday on the activities of our Interact Club during 2018-19.  During the year, 438 volunteers hours were logged helping teachers clean beakers, cutting out DNA structures, washing the ceilings, filing and packing.
Members of the Interact Club attended and participated in District 5050 Interact meetings, meeting other Interact groups, sharing ideas and planning for the District Conference. Four members attended the District Conference and lead the group activity.

The Interact Club participated in the Lake Stevens High School's Club Fair, March Madness and due to the increase in members started meeting weekly. Kristin, thanks so much for being such a superb and fantastic Advisor to the Interact Club.

Welcome Cynthia Casey
One of our Club's newest members Cynthia Casey, receives her Membership Certificate, membership kit, name tag and Rotary pin from President Laurie Westover and Membership Chair Ron Rasmussen during the ceremony at our meeting Friday, August 2nd.  Welcome to the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens, Cynthia!
Sam Samano - Classification Talk
One of the programs last week was a Classification Talk by Sam Samano, Employment Security Department-Workforce. Her position allows Sam to work with clients on building resumes so that they can find jobs and build a future. Working on grants and helping employers recruit individuals is another aspect of the program. The Trade Act involves employees affected by job loss due to employers moving their businesses off-shore. For fun she sings and oh, what a fantastic voice she has as well as act in local plays. Welcome to the Club Sam!
