Our regular Rotary Club Meetings are at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center located at 12309 22nd St NE. We start at 7:30 am. Our meeting this week is moving to The Buzz Inn. The featured speaker will be our own Kevin O'Brien, Chief of the Lake Stevens Fire Department. He will give an overview of he EMS Lift Levy that is on the ballot before homeowners. This is an important measure for the community.

During her visit to our Club, District Governor Lindagene Coyle oversaw several recognition events.
Recognized for their contribution to our Club. District Governor Lindagene Coyle handed out special District pins.
Receiving recognition from District Governor Lindagene Coyle were Chris Vallo, Reshal Ploeger, Tracy DeLorm and Laurie Westover. The four club members have been deeply involved in a number of Club activities during the start of the new Rotary year, 2017-18. All have been involved in more than one major activity. Each year, the District Governor's visit includes special recognition for members who have made major contributions to the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens.

During the meeting, District Governor Lindagene Coyle and Club President Randy Celori inducted 8 of the 9 new members into our club.
Inducted into our Club during the District Governor's visit was CJ Antonyuk, Rick Miller, John Dyer, Chris Vallo, Angie Hein, Kristen Hoffman, Jackie Sheehen, and Dennis Kaiser. Chris and Angie joined in January while the others all became members in September. Pictured with District Governor Lindagene Coyle and the new members are John Huber, Club Membership Chairman and President Randy Celori. Unable to attend the induction was Kendra Pinkelman who was out of town during the meeting and induction. Our Club is growing and this was the largest number of new members inducted during the District Governor's new year. Congratulations to all of the new members.

President Randy Celori, Foundation Chair Jim Haugen and District Governor Lindagene Coyle bestowed Paul Harris awards during her visit to our Club. Another example of Rotarians in Action.
Paul Harris Fellow awards were given to the following: Jim Haugen's Paul Harris Fellow award was designated to Kim Daughtry and John Huber's Paul Harris Fellow to his wife Kathy, a founding member of our Club. Likewise, Jason Demeroutis, received a Paul Harris award from his dad, Bill, who picked it up for Jason. Dean Franz, was recognized for his ongoing contributions to The Rotary Foundation. Another big event and honor for our Club members and their designees.
Important November 7th vote for Lake Stevens Fire - EMS Levy
Emergency medical service accounts for 76% of all calls responded to by the Lake Steven Fore Department, and that number is growing. EMS calls have increased 35% alone over the past six years, as have costs for medical supplies, equipment, maintenance, and emergency personnel.
Lake Stevens Fire is asking voters to return the EMS levy to 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value during the November election. The 18 cent levy lid lift would cost the owner of a $300,000 home an additional $54 per year ($4.50 per month). This lid lift would continue to fund Basic and Advanced Life Support with 14 Firefighters and Paramedics responding 24 hours a day.
