District Governor Brad Whittaker Visit
Brad Whittaker, District Governor visited our Club this past Friday, October 18th. What a treat, to have the District Governor visit our Club. A really great opportunity to get acquainted with one another, share our stories, projects and learn from our District leader. The Governor was introduced by Dave Duskin, Area J Assistant District Governor. Brad is the fourth Rotarian from the Chilliwack Club to be the District Governor.

During his visit to our Club, Brad spoke about the 1.2 million Rotarians in over 34,000 Clubs worldwide and the work we all do in our communities. His main message centered on the Action Plan Priorities which are:

  • 1. Increase Rotary's impact
  • 2. Expand Rotary's reach
  • 3. Enhance Rotary Club members participation
  • 4. This year's Rotary theme is Rotary Connects the World
  • 5. District grants grow Rotary. District Grants and a Global Grant of $10,000 while partnering with another Rotary Club can generate up to $35,000 for that project.
  • 6. Impact...where there is Rotary, there is less poverty
  • 7. Local projects important to each community. He acknowledged our efforts on behalf of the Skateboard Park, our work at Lundeen Park and the donation of five park benches and two picnic tables.
  • 8. Build a new Rotary or Rotaract Club. Look at new club concepts to grow your membership.
Use our District and Rotary International websites to get the most our of Rotary. By putting more into Rotary, you learn more about Rotary and become more involved in Rotary. He mentioned some of the upcoming events such as the Rotary Learning Institute November 2 and March 7 & 8th, the District Assembly April 4th, and the District Conference coming up in late April and early May

A big shout out to our District Governor Brad Whittaker and Assistant District Governor Dave Duskin for being with us the past Friday and learning more about the impact Rotary can have on local communities.
