Lake Stevens Police Department Strategic Plan
Lake Stevens Police Chief John Dyer and a Club member reviews the importance of the department's strategic plan. Two years ago, the department did not have a strategic plan. Now they do and is a three part process according to the Chief.

The process begins with an "Evaluation of available resources through employee surveys conducted in September 2016. That process involved the Loaned Executive Management Assistance program known as LEMAP 2013. The strategic plan was developed using this process, along with past LSPD annual reports, employee climate surveys and a 2017 SWOT exercise.

Facilities:  The current Police Headquarters was built when the population of the City of Lake Stevens was approximately 6,000. With a population now exceeding 33,000, a new Headquarters office is under consideration at a site on Chapel Hill near Fire Station 82.

Mission Statement: Who do we serve? What product do we provide and how do we provide it? Their Mission:  We serve the Lake Stevens community by enhancing public safety and quality of life, through professional police services, partnerships and interaction with our citizens.

Their Vision:  The Lake Stevens Police Department is a trusted community partner, made up of dedicated and well trained professionals. As a strong team, we set the standard for excellence in policing. We are known for our dedication to professional police services.

Their Goals: Facilitated employee and community meetings. Worked out specific goals and looked at professional police services; enhanced public safety in an ideal state; Quality of life in an ideal state; Partnerships in an ideal state and organizational excellence.

Other on-going activities:  Employment development; process improvements; accreditation process which is a lean process through the Auditor's Office; infrastructure improvements such as IT needs are huge including facility management; Community interaction involving education, interaction and engagement including developing a Community Advisory Board.

Many other activities were included in the Strategic Plan update including the importance of staffing analysis, an adaptive process being key element in the planning process with small blocks of time to address the next step and involve regular check in sessions and fleet management another element key to the organization. Thanks Chief for a really important update.
