I was here in the late 60's when Boeing started the transformation of Paine Field. It was spectacular especially going out after work close to midnight and watching the crews transform the airport. The best of Paine Field is the variety of aircraft from vintage to the newest innovations in air traffic travel. Paine Field Airport has 1,300 acres In Snohomish County, the impact of Boeing on the Paine Field Airport is huge and a tremendous asset to our county. Runway 1129 is where Boeing parks their tanksers. The 777x project is underway with production to begin soon. In April 2013, Boeing opened the 180,000 square foot building which features three times the office, conference and delivery operations space as the old Everett Delivery Center and was designed to increase operational efficiencies. The Everett Delivery Center, central to Boeing's Everett site operations, houses major functions and personnel related to the delivery of its 747, 767, 777 and 787 commercial airplanes. Maps of the Paine Field Airport showed the location of the K-6 lease area for the KC-46A testing as well as the 777X Plant location and the Assembly location. There are new firefighting vehicles at Paine Field and one is equiped with a camera on board. Paine Field has a full time fire service. Rescue and firefighting on planes is a regular exercise for the firefighting crew. Some of the Paine Field attractions include the Future of Flight & Boeing Tour; Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum; Historic Flight Foundation and the Museum of Flight Restoration Center. Commercial air travel service will be available through Propeller Investments. The 30,000 sq. ft. food terminal with include two aircraft gates with an estimated 15 departures per day. Alaska Airlines will have nine departures and United Airlines will have six departures to Denver and San Francisco. Kara commented that they hope to have the terminal done by mid-summer. Parking will be available and the cost to park will be close to Bellingham Airport pricing. Another large tenant at Paine Field is ATS which repairs Alaska aircraft on a daily basis swapping them out between Sea-Tac and Paine Field. Jet Blue is another client of ATS. And finally, the airport includes 300 hangers for private airplane storage. They are constrained for space. Since the younger generation isn't flying as much, the number of departures and takeoffs are below 100,000 now. Sea-Tac traffic does come close to Everett these days. Incredible story about Paine Field.
