Angie Sievers spoke about Snohomish County. Although Snohomish County is thriving, home construction is lagging. Population growth has already surpassed its original forecast and is currently on track to be at the 2020 level. Homeless student population is at an increasing level and of concern to all sectors of the county and local cities. While King County population is decreasing both Pierce and Snohomish Counties are growing rapidly. Condo construction is very small and experiencing a host of lawsuits. Supply deficit results in a crisis of affordability. More people are coming to Snohomish County. Cost of regulation and housing affordability are of concern to the Master Builders Association as well as city and county governments. Thirty percent of housing costs are attributed to fees and licenses. To further compound the issues local governments are having difficulty finding planners. Angie is an Everett native with a BA in Education and Mathematics from Washington State University and has a diverse background in public education, health care and her family's development business. Currently she is focused on implementation of a practical and efficient regulatory policy and engaging MBA members in meaningful community volunteers and advocacy efforts. Angie's contributions to the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County Advocacy Board, the Everett & Snohomish County Housing Consortium Board, the Snohomish County Tomorrow's Community Advisory Board and the Everett School District's Industry Advisory Board demonstrates the various ways she advocates for economic growth, equitable housing policy and worker training opportunities for young adults. In her free time, she enjoys photography and time with her family in the outdoors whether it be hiking or running the family shuttle service between various sporting events.
