Fallen Hero Portrait Project-Michael Reagan
Michael Reagan - with some of his work for The Fallen Hero Portrait Project including one photo of him as a Marine in Vietnam.
A Marine who served his country in Vietnam, an accomplished artist who has created portraits of Oprah Winfrey, Harrison Ford, Senator John Glenn, Gregory Peck and Joan Fontaine. Other notable portraits include Bob Hope, Katherine Hepburn & Audrey Hepburn, Red Skelton and Ingrid Bergman. In addition, he has drawn every single Heisman Trophy winner and a majority of the NFL Hall of Fame Members. And, he has done the portraits of five U.S. Presidents after which he was asked to draw a special piece to commemorate President George W. Bush's election and a portrait of the First Lady, Laura Bush. When the President saw the portrait, he commented that Michael had captured the sparkle in Laura's eyes.

He has raised over 10 million dollars for charities across the country, primarily with his art work. During his work, Michael developed an idea. He began drawing two portraits of a celebrity, giving them one and asking them to autograph the second original drawing, then donating the second drawing to local charity fund-raisers. One of those drawings was of Warren Moon which he donated to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes fundraiser fetching $1,800. Michael had discovered his purpose. Other portraits have captured large sums of money for Children's Hospital in Seattle.

However, his greatest work has been the Fallen Heroes Portrait Project to honor the American Fallen Heroes for their ultimate sacrifice during the war against terrorism. His Foundation provides the resources to produce and distribute to each family a hand-drawn portrait of their Fallen Hero, created by artist Michael G. Reagan free of charge. Over 5,000 Fallen Heroes Portraits have been presented to the Fallen Heroes families.

This was Michael's second appearance at our Club. He was accompanied by his wife Cheryl who works with Michael on this enormously rewarding project each and every day. The story of Michael and Cheryl Reagan is much bigger than can be written for this article. For more information you can visit Michael's website www.fallenheroesproject.org. His Foundation, the Michael G, Reagan Portrait Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit foundation. The foundation supports the Gold Star families of the fallen heroes/soldiers of war.

Thought of the Week - Who Said It?
"I think kindness is my number one attribute in a human being. I'll put it before any of the things like courage or bravery or generosity or anything else...Kindness - that simple word. To be kind -it covers everything, to my mind. If you're kind, that's it."
