Join the Seattle Fire Department and Seattle 4 Rotary Club to celebrate and honor SFD's 2017 Annual Award recipients for their exemplary service and demonstrated leadership.

Awards include Chief of the Year, Officer of the Year, Civilian of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, and additional commendations.

Bylaws Amendments

At its March and April 2018 meetings, the Board of Directors approved the following three amendments to the Club’s Bylaws. Per the Bylaws, the Club’s membership needs to be provided at least two weeks written notice of the proposed changes before a vote to approve or reject the amendments. This notice of the proposed amendments will appear in the May 11, 18 and 25th Totems, and a vote of Club members to approve the amendments is scheduled for the lunch meeting on May 30, 2018.

Rotary Peace Builders Deliver Hygiene Kits & Peace Pole to YouthCare

Join the PeaceBuilders committee to deliver several hundred hygiene kits to YouthCare. We will also be installing a Peace Pole. This event is free but please do RSVP.

Tiny House Painting Work Party

Tiny House Painting Work Party

Rotary volunteers are needed to paint tiny houses on May 26. A photographer from Rotary International will be at the site to document the work local Rotary clubs are doing to end homelessness in Seattle.  Contact Cathy Burnell or Eva Agrawal to sign up.

Enjoy a spotlight session with an esteemed member of Seattle Rotary, Laurel James, followed by quality conversation. Laurel founded Super Jock 'n Jill, the first running store in the USA, in 1975. She and her son also put on the first Marathon running Trials for participation in the LA Olympics. She is an inspiration in sports and fitness education and has been a charismatic leader in Seattle Rotary since joining our club in 1992. A heavy appetizer buffet for $15, $6-8 wine, and $8-10 mixed drinks are available to purchase by credit card. Onsite parking is also available for $15. Hope to see you there!
Mariners Fire Boat Tour
Saturday, June 9
11:00 am-2:00 pm @ Seattle Fire Station 5, 925 Alaskan Way
 
Join Seattle Rotary Mariners in a tour of the newly remodeled Seattle Fire Department Station 5 on the Seattle waterfront. Children five and older are welcome to join the tour. After the tour, we will have lunch at Ivar's Acre's of Clams.
Special Olympics Cheer LIne
Sunday, July 1
10:30 am @ Husky Stadium,  3800 Montlake Blvd. NE
 
We are putting together a group of Rotarian volunteers who will be part of the Cheer Line that covers the distance from the University of Washington dorms down to the Husky Stadium.  We will form a human line and cheer for the athletes as they make their way to the Stadium. We will also buy $20 general admission tickets to the Opening Ceremonies. Please contact Nancy Cahill if you are interested in volunteering. 
Search & Rescue Night
Saturday, June 9
7:30-11:30 pm @ Union Gospel Mission - Men's Shelter, 318 2nd Ave. Extension South
 
Join fellow Rotarians on a Search and Rescue evening with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission. The night will be spent providing wool blankets, food, water, and other supplies to our homeless neighbors. We will also offer them the opportunity to come inside for a night of safe shelter at the Mission.

This June, Rotarian Dorothy Bullitt will end her tenure as Senior Lecturer and Distinguished Practioner at the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance. For over a decade, Dorothy has taught invaluable leadership courses to undergraduate and Master of Public Administration students, including Executive Leadership. In her time at the Evans School and beyond, Dorothy has mentored countless students, making an incredible impact on their lives and careers. Rotarians can send notes of congrats to Dorothy that will be presented to her on May 31st by emailing evansgive@uw.edu. Rotarians can also make a gift to the Evans School in Dorothy’s honor here.
