Building a new Reality - How Immersive Technology is Transforming Business and Community

August 22 at noon
The Hyatt Olive 8, 1635 8th Ave
Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality: what are these technologies, and how are they impacting our local and global economies?  According to the International Data Corporation, the global augmented and virtual reality market is projected to grow from $11.4 billion this past year to $215 billion by 2021. Already, these technologies are transforming key industries by fundamentally changing how we navigate, communicate and experience daily reality, inside and outside the workplace.

Join us on August 22nd when Jessie Irwin, Chief Strategy Officer of IME Law, will lead a panel of local industry leaders who are applying immersive technology solutions for enterprise to achieve triple bottom line impact and create a more efficient and equitable reality.

20+ Year Seattle 4 Rotarians – special recognition

For our loyal, tenured Seattle 4 members who have been with the club for 20 years or longer, please join us at lunch on August 22 for a special recognition. We’d like to take the opportunity to publicly thank you with a small token of our appreciation for your committed service to giving back through Rotary. We have more than 100 members with service beyond 20 years, and we hope to see you all there!

Judge Who Stopped Trump Travel Bans Warns Rotarians

When Seattle-based US District Court Judge James Robart signed a ruling to temporarily stop President Trump’s travel ban on immigration from seven non-terrorist, generally Muslim countries, the judge was told by the White House that the “President’s actions are unreviewable by the court.”

Upon learning of Judge Robart’s ruling, President Trump tweeted that “the so-called judge’s ruling was ridiculous” in the interest of national security.  “Undermining the judiciary is undermining democracy,” Judge Robart warned Rotarians about the President’s unprecedented attacks on judicial oversight.

SRSF Opportunity Grant

The Seattle Rotary Service Foundation announced the opening of the 2018 Opportunity Grants cycle.  This funding program works to be responsive to the preferences of our member donors and the needs of our community, recognizing that sometimes our usual structure of annual grants does not make funds available when special opportunities, emergencies, and unique needs arise.
The maximum grant will be $7,500 and the minimum is $500.  All applications must be received by SRSF by December 1, 2018.
Applications for these grants must come through the regular Seattle Rotary Service Committees.

Registration is now open for the 2018-2019 Rotary Academy which will start this September. The Rotary Academy is a comprehensive self-paced study program of Rotary information — great for both new and experienced Rotarians and anyone considering club or district leadership positions.
