Two gifts...
We change the world

Once a year we ask you to make two donations.  One is to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF).  The other is to The Rotary Foundation (TRF).  If you have not yet made your donations, please consider doing so today.  Thank you!

How a motivated woman transformed DC schools and keeps making strides nationally

February 14 at Noon
The Grand Hyatt, 721 Pine St.

Michelle Rhee is the daughter of South Korean emigrants and a graduate of Cornell University. She is highly motivated with a think-out-of-the-box attitude. By her late 30’s, she had become the point person for one of the boldest and most controversial school reform efforts in America. As chancellor of Washington DC’s schools, Rhee instituted merit pay for teachers, fought for art and music classes, and championed charter schools. Her push meant locking horns with teachers’ unions. Her example helped drastically reshape the national discussion on teachers and schools. In 2010, she founded StudentsFirst, a non-profit organization that works on education reform.

Business Mentor Program Recognized

Every year, Rotarian mentors partner with UW business students to consult with small businesses and organizations from across Seattle. To date, more than 1,200 students and 300 businesses have been through this program, which has generated more than 5,000 new and retained jobs and $65 million in new revenues.  We extend a special thanks to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation, whose support makes this program possible.

Calling all Seattle Rotarians to Serve as Hosts for "Winners for Life"

Wednesday, March 14
11:00am-12:00pm reception
12:00-1:30pm luncheon

Each year, the Rotary Club of Seattle honors high school students who have shown exceptional character in overcoming significant obstacles to remain in school.

On Wednesday, March 14th, we need 40 Seattle Rotarians to each host a “Winner for Life” at the reception and regular Rotary luncheon.  Rotary pays for the reception and meals of the Winner and their guest, and Winners receive a plaque, but YOU make the recognition more personal!
