The Seattle Times Family Stewardship Delivers relevant print and digital content with community support

Totem Report July 19, 2018
By Pete DeLaunay
The Seattle Times publisher Frank Blethen explained how his 120-year-old “startup” is evolving as a robust print and digital news platform through innovation, reaching out for public support of key initiatives and emerging as a nationally recognized newspaper model - balancing the content needs of boomers, Gen Xers, and millennials for the future.  “We were not going to allow the watchdog to become a lap dog,” he said.

New Badges and Other Changes for This Rotary Year

We are pleased to announce that our club leadership has been working very hard to streamline club costs and that we will not be raising club dues or the cost of the program plan for this Rotary year!  Here are some additional changes that you need to know:
--Starting August 1st, lunch cost at the door will be slightly increased to $40 (from $38) which simply offsets increases in catering costs over the past couple of years.  If you pay for your lunch at the meeting, you will receive a receipt and may be required to show this to our Rotary Greeters for proof of payment before entering the ballroom.
--On July 25th, all members will receive a new badge available for pick up at registration. New badges will now feature your company or organization.  Please note that your classification may have been modified to meet our new standardized list developed this past year by our Classifications Committee. If there is an error with your new badge or you feel your classification doesn’t reflect your current status, please contact Club Manager, Caroline Bobanick at for assistance so we can fix this for you.
--We strongly encourage members to bring a guest to Rotary who they feel is a good prospect for membership and are pleased to continue offering a complimentary lunch.  Please note that you need to pre-register your prospective member guest with Club Manager, Caroline Bobanick, at, by Tuesday at midnight to ensure you receive a free lunch. Otherwise, you may be charged for your guest at registration.
