And we'll hear from Sue Borgman, Principal at EY, regarding their Entrepreneur Of The Year program which highlights those business leaders in our region who have disrupted industries and built global brands right here in our own backyard.

19 Rotarians and guests from Seattle #4 and two other clubs recently traveled to Uganda to observe the accomplishments of a recent Global Grant in the Katakwi region. This region has been the site of what looks like a very successful effort of controlling malaria in an entire community. The team started its trip at the Uganda Cancer Institute, an affiliate of Fred Hutch, where they learned about the recent expansion of the fight against cancer in the country. Then, accompanied by members of the Rotary Club of Soroti, they traveled to Katakwi, visiting the regional hospital and observing the community-wide treatment that is the lynchpin of the current effort. The physician travelers then visited Soroti Hospital, while others learned about how residual spraying of homes and treated bednets complete the three-pronged control of the deadly disease. The Global Grant is now being renewed with the collaboration of the Gates Foundation and Pilgrim Africa. The visitors attended a church service at a school sponsored by Pilgrim Africa and enthusiastically helped paint classrooms. A festive banquet with RC Soroti leaders and members was enjoyed by all. The trip ended with some of the visiting group attending the District Conference in Entebbe.
