Two gifts...
We change the world

Once a year we ask you to make two donations.  One is to the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF).  The other is to The Rotary Foundation (TRF).  If you have not yet made your donations, please consider doing so today.  Thank you!

Diplomatic Perspectives from East Asia

February 21 at Noon
The Westin, 1900 5th Ave.

Join the Rotary Club of Seattle for our Third Annual Diplomacy Day as we welcome members of the Consular Association of Washington, our strategic partner in promoting diplomacy locally and globally.  Consular officials representing more than 15 countries will be present.  Rotary members and guests are encouraged to come early and welcome consular officials as they arrive.

Our program will feature a conversation with two senior diplomats who are members of Seattle 4 including Consul General Yoichiro "Giro" Yamada of Japan and Director General Vincent Yao of Taiwan.  They will share their expertise on the Asia Pacific region from the perspective of their respective societies.  We will also see the unveiling of a new Seattle 4 mini documentary about the work of our diplomatic members and welcome to the podium new Deputy Mayor Shefali Ranganathan.

Calling all Seattle Rotarians to Serve as Hosts for "Winners for Life"

Wednesday, March 14
11:00am-12:00pm reception
12:00-1:30pm luncheon
Hyatt Olive 8, 1635 8th Ave.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Seattle honors high school students who have shown exceptional character in overcoming significant obstacles to remain in school.

On Wednesday, March 14th, we need 40 Seattle Rotarians to each host a “Winner for Life” at the reception and regular Rotary luncheon.  Rotary pays for the reception and meals of the Winner and their guest, and Winners receive a plaque, but YOU make the recognition more personal!

In Memoriam

This month we have lost a number of members and former members.

Chuck Holmes was a member of Seattle #4 from 2003 to 2017. You can read his obituary here.

This week we also say goodbye to 17 year member Ken Martin. You can read his obituary here.

Former member Bill Frankland  also passed away earlier this week. You can read his obituary here.

Another member of our Seattle #4 family Skip Dupar passed away after battling cancer on February 6, 2018.

Skip joined our club on August 17 1983 as a 3rd generation Seattle Rotarian.  His grandfather, Frank A. Dupar Sr., one of the founders of Westin Hotels (then "Western Hotels") was the 1955-56 president of our club.

His father, Frank A. Dupar Jr., was the 1979-80 president of our club, who founded Dupar Dynamics and lead numerous other firms, including Pacific Industrial Supplies and Tube Art Displays.  Skip (Frank A. III) was chairman and CEO of Tube Art Group. Although not attending Rotary for several years, Skip faithfully kept up all his Rotary membership obligations.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Bellevue Presbyterian (1717 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004) on February 27, 2018 at 1PM.
