Join us this Wednesday as Seattle Rotary President Mark Wright speaks with Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer, Brad Smith. Brad will share his insights on inclusive hiring practices, the role Artificial Intelligence could play in accessibility, and the value of educating and training our business leaders, employees and community to have an inclusive mindset. Brad also serves as the Honorary Board Chair of the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games, and is passionate about Seattle and the Puget Sound Region using this national stage to serve as a model for a City of Inclusion.

In Memoriam

This week we lost another beloved former member of our club, reverend and civil rights activist Dr. Sam McKinney. 

Wider World of Rotary

Seattle Rotary member Paula Houston has been appointed the sports commissioner for the powerlifting competitions at this summer’s Special Olympics USA Games. In this role, she will oversee the planning, staging, technical aspects and execution of the competition. More than 85 powerlifters from across the country are expected to compete in the USA Games. 
 
Paula is a long-time Special Olympics Washington volunteer and brings an extensive background in powerlifting to the USA Games. As a competitive powerlifter, her many accolades include 12 national and six world championships. She has also been inducted into the Washington State Powerlifting Hall of Fame as well as the USA Powerlifting Hall of Fame.
 
The Special Olympics USA Games will take place July 1-6 and will welcome more than 4,000 athletes and coaches to Seattle. The powerlifting competitions will take place at the University of Washington’s Meany Hall.
