Contribute to the greater success of our Seattle  Public School students

The Seattle Public School District has asked Seattle #4 Rotarians to share their  ideas, insights, and  experiences toward the District’s goal of re-envisioning  middle and high schools to make each student “Seattle Ready” for further education and employment to meet our job opportunities and fulfill their potential.

The goal of the new state 24-credit requirement is to identify skills and knowledge that high school students need to be in order to be  “trade school, college and career” ready upon graduation.

Questions for SEATTLE #4 Rotary MEMBERS:

1) As professionals, in your opinion, what knowledge, skills, and attitudes do schools need to emphasize to increase the success of students in trade school, college, or the workplace?

2) If your business can offer internships to Seattle public school students please email: education@seattlerotary.org

If attending the meeting with Seattle Public Schools on Thursday, October 19th from 4-5pm at the Rainier Club, please RSVP to education@seattlerotary.org.

OR please email your suggestions and insights to education@seattlerotary.org.

Seattle Rotary Service Foundation Opportunity Grants

The Seattle Rotary Service Foundation (SRSF) has announced a new pilot program called “Opportunity Grants”.  SRSF is trying to be responsive to the preferences of our member donors and the needs of our community, recognizing that sometimes our usual structure of annual grants does not make funds available when special opportunities, emergencies, and unique needs arise.

All applications must be received by SRSF by December 1, 2017.
