The Seattle Rotary Mariners and the Northwest Maritime Center invite you for a lunchtime cruise on Lake Union to learn about the intersection of the newly inaugurated Maritime High School of the Highline School District and the 100+-year-old Lake Union Dry Dock Company.

 

Admiral Jack is a 40’, 50 passenger foot ferry newly converted into a floating classroom for students to experience marine science and vessel operations.  Northwest Maritime Center leads the maritime programs for the new High School.  You will hear how this Project Based Learning institution prepares students for advanced degrees as well as entry directly into the maritime workforce. 

 

Fellow Rotarian Bruce Jones, Chairman of Lake Union Dry Dock Company, with staff, will share the fantastic history of a century of shipbuilding and vessel repair on Lake Union.
