Jul. 20, 2019 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Join us for the annual Shipwreck Festival, put on by Fidalgo Island Rotary. Garage sale meets flea market meets antique show! Thirty-eight years ago, our commercial fishermen sold their used gear as yard art on Commercial Ave. "Shipwreck" has evolved into a massive community garage sale including flea market and antique vendors. The event technically starts at 8 am, but there are usually some businesses and booths that get started right at first light, just like the old time fishermen used to. This event features over 200 vendors set up in booths along Commercial Ave.; each booth brings something new and usually very eclectic, and you are sure to find something that you can’t live without. Join members of Fidalgo Island Rotary — aka the FUN Club! — for our monthly social gathering, Rotary Plus! This month, we're playing Pickleball! We'll be participating in the Anacortes Parks & Rec adult Pickleball drop in session at Mount Erie Elementary School. Meet in the gym around 7 p.m. to particpate; all equipment is provided by the Parks & Rec department. Wear clothing you're comfortable moving around in and bring water or a snack, if you'd like. Stay for as long as you'd like to play, or just come to cheer! Don't forget to wear your FIR Club swag! Never played Pickleball before? Don't worry! Feel free to bring friends and family, but remember this is an 18+ event for adults. For questions or more info, email fir.theFUNclub@gmail.com. See you there! |

Oct. 07, 2019 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
We have two requests for funding to discuss: Boys and Girls Club and the Fidalgo Dance Works. There is a possibility that we will also have heard from the Salish Deaf School folks by that time.
Also, we need to flesh out the next steps for the Didgalic Wellness Center project for which we have received a Rotary District Matching Grant of $4,000.
Plus I would like to start a calendar of events and deadlines our committee has to manage so we can start getting volunteers in place. So you see we have plenty to do. Hope you can make it. Barbhoe

I have received a communique from Dr. Wenzel at the school district regarding the teacher enhancement grant program. Yes, I realize that he had indicated that program was going away, but they have figured out a new methodology that doesn't require staff and they have 16 requests. If you would like to preview the requests go to donorschoose.org then enter 98221 to search for local grant requests.
We also need to get updated on Celebrate the Season Gingerbread house day; our new District Grant project; STEM Camp 2020; and Waterfront Boatbuilding.
So hope to see you on Monday evening. I will bring something for us to eat and drink.
