Deborah Ness and her husband Steve came Monday, October 21st to pick up Deborah's 1955 Chevrolet as she is this year's raffle winner.  Hailing from Seattle, Deborah purchased her winning ticket at the Good Guys show in Puyallup.

President Ann Anderst handed over the keys to Deborah but her husband Steve was the first to drive the car as Deborah has to learn how to drive a stick shift.  Steve took off for Seattle in some of the thickest fog we have experienced in quite a while.  We didn't get any calls so hopefully, they had a safe trip back.

Deborah and Steve have several friends that have classic cars so they are excited to be joining them.  They are already making plans to take the car to Good Guys next year so we may have two or three past raffle winners with their cars at the show.

The car give-a-way is only part of what the club does as the next task is to share the proceeds with worthy non-profits and provide scholarships to students at Everett Community College.  As some members have said, "we give the car away, then give the money away and start all over again."  Plans are under way to make the car raffle even bigger next year.

Dave Dilgard, from the City of Everett Northwest Room of the Everett Library, talked to the Everett-Port Gardner Rotary about the history of Lowell.  This unique part of Everett is steeped in history and Dilgard showed a series of slides that recaptured the history of how this area began and who was responsible.

Dilgard has been recording Everett's history for over 36 years and is a walking textbook about how the City began and it's early history.  He and his associates have been gathering information and pictures on early Everett history and the Northwest Room of the Everett Public Library is a treasure trove of early Everett history.

As a long standing supporter of Imagine Children’ Museum, The Rotary Club of Everett Port Gardner recently donated $25,000 in support of the Legacy Project. Nancy Johnson, Executive Director, accepted the donation as part of the $5 million capital campaign.

The two components of the Legacy Project are comprised of property acquisition and expansion of the museum. The planned expansion would add approximately 7,175 square feet. This expansion would allow for larger groups, traveling exhibits and enhance educational enrichment programs.
