Friday's speakers
Join us Friday morning as Alvin Shim, Director of Operations for One Parish One Prisoner, takes us through what it takes for teams across Washington to work with one incarcerated person, walking with them through incarceration, release, and new life in their community. This is difficult enough with one person. Alvin does it with 200.
Joining Alvin is Alex Sanchez. Alex grew up in the Valley, except for a number of years incarcerated—much of that time spent in solitary. Today, he's a loving husband and father, a supportive brother to many, and a professional reentry navigator at Underground Ministries.
Our Auction Is Only 10 days Away!
Dust off your Sunday-Going-To-Meeting clothes, confirm your dog (or baby-sitter), make
sure you are registered, and
get ready for a once-in-a-year
opportunity!
10 days from now (or
approximately 261.503 hours)
is our annual auction
fundraiser. This is the event
that provides funding for all
the scholarships, community
services, and international
programs that our club
supports during the year. Of course, it comes complete with an incredible gourmet dinner and all the entertainment that you can provide. Now all we need are you and your guests to attend and we need everyone to be willing to purchase a silent or live auction item and/or make a donation to the scholarship fund at the auction. Don't know when or where?? That's easy:
Saturday, Oct. 1st at the Swinomish Casino!
Doors open at 5 p.m.
Do you have questions or suggestions? Want to get involved? Listen to the announcements at our meetings or contact Don Power or Auction Chairperson Karin Brown.
Sarah Ward is looking for 5-10 Rotarians to manage the Pumpkin Slingers at Burlington's Fall Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 24 and 25 at Skagit River Park. What are Pumpkin Slingers you ask? THEY ARE REALLY AWESOME DEVICES BUILT TO SLING SHOT PUMPKINS! They are so much fun! She needs help for two shifts 9:30-1:00 or 12:30- 4:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday there is a 'pupkin' Fun Run! You get to dress your dog up as a pumpkin and do the fun run (or walk). The shifts for that are 8:30-12:00. Click the Fall Festival logo for more information.
