edutainment
Aug. 12, 2022
Our presenter is a professional speaking coach and multimedia producer. She calls herself an ‘edutainer’ which means she infuses entertainment into her training to make it fun and memorable.
Through her company Showcase Your Shine with Rebecca P. Murray, she’s hired by corporate clients to work with high potential leaders helping them speak with confidence. Today she promises to teach us facilitation from both sides of the lectern. First, what we need to do if we are responsible for the meeting, and secondly, our responsibilities as a presenter. What we’ll learn today is a condensed version of a course she offers Western Washington University as part of her “Speak & Shine Academy Curriculum” offerings. McMoran, Donald W <dmcmoran@wsu.edu>
Don McMoran was born on a 2000 acre diversified potato farm in Mount Vernon Washington. He grew up working on the farm including bucking hay bales and moving irrigation pipe all summer long. Working in the fields was long and hard but he grew to appreciate how hard area farmers work to make the valley what it is today. Don completed his Masters Degree in General Agriculture in 1998 with a minor in Spanish and a Masters in Arts and teaching in 2000. After graduating from college Don taught Spanish at Stanwood Middle School for one year before receiving a position with the Skagit Conservation District where he implemented the Conservation Enhancement Reserve Program (CREP). In May of 2006 Don was hired as the WSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator for Skagit County, where he assists local farmers and gardeners with their research and extension needs. His major programming includes Cropping and Irrigation Systems, Leadership, Farm Stress, Agricultural Suicide Prevention and Outreach to Underserved Audiences. |

alvin@undergroundministries.org Alex Sanchez is a local. He grew up in the valley, except for x number of years incarcerated—much of that time spent in solitary. Today, he's enrolled at Skagit, a loving husband and father, a supportive brother to many, and a professional reentry navigator at Underground Ministries. You should ask him how many folks are on his caseload.
Alvin is the Director of Operations for One Parish One Prisoner—activating and equipping teams across the State to do with one incarcerated friend what Alex does with 200, walking with them through incarceration, release, and new life in their community. |

Gangs and Drugs in our Community
Nov. 04, 2022
Mike spent over 26 years in law enforcement working in Eastern Washington. In 2017 I was proud to have been offered the position as Chief of Police for the City of Burlington. Skagit Valley is where I was born and raised so this was an opportunity for me to come home. I have been married for 29 years and am quite proud of my 2 daughters, one a high school teacher and the other currently finishing her teaching degree. In my spare time I do what my wife tells me to do, I enjoy yard work, boating/crabbing, and have a passion for continual learning and change. |

Danny is a few short steps from attaining his Mass Appraisal Specialist (MAS) designation from IAAO. Currently there are only five people in the United States who currently hold this designation. His father was the Chief Deputy Assessor for Mark Leander from 1994 until 2009 and is extremely proud to be following in his father’s footsteps.” |
