Public Defender

Starck Follis: Director of the Whatcom County Public Defender's Office.  He is in his fifth year with the Whatcom County Public Defenderafter six years in the Skagit County Public Defender and twenty years in private practice involving primarily criminal defense.

He graduated from the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law, cum laude. Starck clerked for the Alaska Court of Appeals, served on the Board of Governors of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and has presented at numerous Continuing Legal Education Courses involving Criminal Law. He was admitted to practice law in Alaska and Washington in 1986 and is a member of the Bar for the Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington. Starck has served as pro tem judge at various courts throughout Whatcom County.
