Rise Against Hunger - April 27th
Bob Morse  gave an update of the International Projects Committee. He announced that the committee has designated a dollar-for-dollar match of membership donations by the committee’s funds up to a limit of $5,000 going to the Rise Against Hunger project. He said the goal was to produce 88,000 meals that day.  To do that we need money and volunteers.  The first order of business is to raise the funds to buy the meals.  We are currently only 2/3 of the way there.  He urged people to donate if they haven’t already, and to volunteer on the 27th.

RCOB is working to reverse the steady decline in membership and increase our current membership from 131 this year to 143 next year. The committee calls on all members to help increase Rotary visibility in the following ways:
  • Invite people to meetings
  • Follow up with people that have previously attended
  • Get member’s spouses involved
  • Get people to Rotary events (community service & social events)
  • Share widely reasons why you like Rotary
  • Like our facebook page right now! (https://www.facebook.com/Rotary-Club-of-Bellingham-118376198250650/) – you get to see the club member photos, get updates, share your Rotary moments with the community, and expand your reach).
  • Put a Rotary sticker on your car (and be a good driver to represent well)
  • Wear your Rotary pin (see Sandy if you need another)

Please be responding to the requests you receive for the RCOB community member slide shows that play while you eat your lunch. Also, update your photo for the Club Runner (and make sure it’s not pixelated).

Further ways of increasing membership:
  • Have a physical presence at the upcoming Galbraith project, Ski to Sea, Farmers Market, etc.
  • Produce materials that tell the Rotary story and it’s community contributions (a new brochure is now made).
  • Streamline the process for potential members to get involved.
  • Have a follow up plan for potential plan.
  • Cultivate an environment that makes guests of the club comfortable.
  • Offer meeting invitations to potential members with the incentive of bringing in a special dynamic speaker about once a month to our weekly lunch meetings.
  • Create a welcoming foyer situation for new guests.
  • New member onboarding process:
  • Mentorship?
  • Attend a service  project?
  • Attend a social event?
  • Attend a board meeting?
