Opening
President Sandy was a bit handicapped today by a heavy program load.
No hat, no geography lesson.  Could he have run out of hats?

Gail Ridenour led us perfectly into three verses of America The Beautiful, and the AV assist on the screen taught, at least this reporter, a verse he had never heard before.  Nicely done.

Announcements:

The projected image of Warren Bestwick announced the death of our long time friend and Past President.  Greg Grant did a marvelous job of reminding us of the man, and the incredible life that he led.  A highly decorated flying warrior, a highly successful businessman, and a gentle and giving soul.  Warren Bestwick was truly a Rotarian of honor, dignity and character.

Presentations
Our 2019 Major Project, A Galbraith Mountain Parking lot, was thoroughly introduced and explained by the Galbraith Mountain Organization leader, Eric Brown.  Our contribution will go a long way towards funding a greatly expanded parking lot on City Park land across from the Samish Way entrance to Galbraith Mountain.  The lot will eliminate a seriously dangerous traffic situation that now exists at the site and facilitate use of this recreational treasure. Eric was introduced by Mike Diehl who sponsored this project. President Sandy had his check written, Now it is our turn - let’s get this done quickly, and generously.

Program

Yet another of the Coroner’s Chronicles brought us Gurprett Dhillon from the Peace Health St. Joseph hospital.  Gurprett spoke enthusiastically of the Palliative Care Program being developed by Peace Health with special emphasis on the Cancer Center and Hospice.  We were pleased to see that Donna Inglis is a primary leader in this effort to provide world-class palliative care to our community.
