President Teri opened the meeting with her usual cheery greeting and welcome, this time promising that Don Anderson would be Rocking and Rolling on the Star Spangled Banner. We thought it was a little bouncier than usual.
Lisa Saar broke the mold with a invocational joke, and then did a serious rendition credited to Joe Coons.

President Teri passed out kudos to several committee chairs who are doing a great job. Joe Coons, chair of the Invocation committee., John Moffat and Steve Hettick, the Vampire brothers, who chair the blood drive campaign. Phil Gubbins and Fred Kaiser were asked to stand to receive credit for the good job they are doing educating the new members at those early breakfasts- and Monty McAllister got special and well deserved credit for re-activiating the exchange student program. Thanks to you all..
President Teri told us she has had a wonderful year but not 100% success. She was nominated as business woman of the year but did not win the title. She was assured that she was not alone as two other women in our club have suffered the same fate. About the only thing that Teri has not place first in this year. She has about a 98% batting average.
We were all delighted to welcome Cleary Cone back into the fold. He has not been attending of late. Brian Griffin expressed his pleasure in seeing Cleary again with a generous “happy buck” donation of .25 cents and the recitation of when Cleary stood to offer condolences to Brian for the death of his barber”. Cleary has long been the master of the one liner and the delightful insult. It got a pretty good laugh this time too, and Brian’s hair is still unkept. Cleary told us he had not attended for a while because the last time he came someone stole his coat.

An interesting presentation by Paul Hansen, Sarah Hutton and Kelly Evert, the new owners of Village Books. The trio described the decision process in buying the Fairhaven Iconic store and some of the challenges of new ownership. They effectively portrayed their philosophy of business and the challenges before them but left us with the knowledge that they are ahead of last year and looking to a booming Christmas season. Those are some big shoes to fill, (Dee's & Chuck's). Not that they have oversized feet...
