President-Elect SandyMcIntire called the meeting to order with a loud HO-HO-HO, thanked the Rotary Brass Band (DelVandeKerk, BradBurdick, JackLouws, and JohnDunne) for serenading the group. There will be no meetings the next two Mondays due to Christmas and New Year's.
Sandy thanked our Northwood Hall waitstaff for their service this past year and asked Rotarians to show their appreciation by contributing generous tips.

We received letters of resignations from Bruce MacCormack, Mark Owings and Rachel Long and they were accepted with regret.
We have been having difficulties recently with our AV system related to the donated computer we have been using. We will use the club computer until MarkKnittel can get another donated computer by Jim Cunningham up and running.
Salvation Army bell ringing -- JimWakefield announced that with the help of 52 club members we raised $4,633 for the Salvation Army last Saturday. Participating members were recognized and applauded for their efforts.

The 2017-2018 Major Project this year is raising funds for the RCOB Foundation Scholarship Fund with a goal of raising $400,000. DaleKinsley reported that we are very close to having 100% of our members pledging and urged the few who haven't to get us to 100%. Dale thanked club members for their generosity in supporting and expanding our Scholarship Endowment Fund.

High School Students of the Month in Humanities:
MeganStanfield introduced the student honorees, commenting on the importance that Humanities plays in all of our lives.
Bellingham HS – Brad Burdick introduced Brynna Kilcline, who has excelled as a dancer, taking her dance group to Japan in 2015 and to Australia next summer.
Options HS – KimPerry introduced Lynna Hall, who is a singer, songwriter and world traveler and hopes to be the next Taylor Swift!
Sehome HS – BobMorse introduced Maria Frazey, who excels in creative writing, having won numerous competitions, and plans to pursue a career in computer science with emphasis on digital art.
Squalicum HS – ChuckSnyder introduced Olivia Benner, who is a champion soccer player and committed community volunteer who plans to study business, so that she can contribute to non-profit organizations which help the world's disadvantaged.
All four students have maintained at or near 4.0 GPAs despite taking mostly AP courses.
President Elect Sandy remarked that, thanks to students such as these, “Our future is in great shape."
Program:
Scheduled were a quartet from the Mt. Baker Toppers singing Christmas music, accompanied by our Rotary Brass Band. Due to illness, the Toppers canceled at the 11th hour. However, thanks to quick work by Del VandeKerk and the Rotary Brass, the group was treated to a delightful sing-along medley of Christmas songs that even this Jewish reporter thoroughly enjoyed!

Rotary Grant Management Seminar is scheduled for Feb. 3, 2018, at the Silver Reef Casino.
Rotary Presidential Peace Conference, focused on the Environment, is scheduled for Feb. 9 – 11, 2018, in Vancouver, BC.
