Rotary Club of Bellingham selects to work with the Opportunity Council to create the Bellingham Recovery House with a goal of raising $100,000.00

Opportunity Council will invest RCOB Foundation funds to rehabilitate two facilities in Bellingham in order to create specialized housing that supports homeless people who are participants in Whatcom County Therapeutic Courts (e.g. Drug Court and Mental Health Courts) and who are committed to their recovery. The Recovery House provides a six-month program of care and treatment with social, vocational, and recreational activities to aid in individual adjustment to abstinence, relapse prevention, recovery skills development, and to aid in job training, employment, or participating in other types of community services. The Recovery House fills high priority needs in response to our community’s goals to prevent incarceration, reduce homelessness, and help individuals struggling with opioid addiction. Once construction is completed in Spring 2020, the Recovery House program will provide professional and peer support to help its 16 residents achieve their goals, hold them accountable to their recovery, and provide access to medication-assisted treatment. A Recovery House located in Whatcom County is a critical component of an effective continuum of care.
