Jack Louws was elected in November 2011 to a four-year term as Whatcom County Executive; and re-elected November, 2015. Previous to that he served four years on the Lynden City Council and eight years as Lynden’s mayor. Louws also has chaired the Whatcom Council of Governments, Small Cities Caucus, and Growth Management Advisory Board and served on boards of the Whatcom Transportation Authority, Economic Development Investment Council and Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.

His father, John Louws, became the first Whatcom County Executive in 1979. John Louws also founded a family business in the 1950s that eventually specialized in manufacturing trusses for the construction industry under Jack Louws, who served as its CEO and owner from 1982 until late 2010. He now shares ownership of the business with this son, John “BJ” Louws, who is President of the business and manages the day-to-day operations.
Jack Louws is married to Cindy, wife of 36 years. They have three grown children – Jodi, John (BJ) and Nathan – and four grandchildren.
