Speaker: Fredda Johnson -Director, Volunteer Engagment MPTF
Feb. 06, 2018
Fredda Johnson develops and implements programs for the Motion Picture & Television Fund that engage volunteers in meaningful opportunities for the benefit of entertainment industry members who are either living on The Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills or aging-in-place in their homes across Los Angeles. Fredda has been with MPTF for 13 years, first serving as a Board member and President of the Volunteer Guild, and now as Director of Volunteer Engagement. After a career producing theatre and working in TV development Fredda took time off to raise her kids. Thirty years later, she found her passion at MPTF leading the volunteer program that counts over 600 active volunteers who serve hundreds of entertainment industry members with over 43,000 hours each year. |

Rotary’s Pageant of the Arts provides high school students the opportunity to display their talents and compete with other students for recognition and monetary prizes. Students gain valuable experience as well as exposure to University Deans and professors.
Rotary Clubs have an opportunity to connect with the community through public and private schools, churches, performing arts and art studios, YMCA, YWCA, theater groups, community centers and groups and retail centers; just a few suggestions for outreach and expanding your club’s public relations.

District 5280 will be working with our neighbors to the north, District 5240, planting trees in the areas recently devastated in the Thomas Fire. The project is a creek restoration project, where the waters from the Thomas Fire burn area washed out most of the creek. This, along with the freeway construction, has left little or no vegetation in the creek bed.
Rotarians will meet at 9:00am at Gran Vida Retirement Community located at 5464 Carpinteria Avenue, Carpinteria, CA 93013. There will be 40-50 trees to plant. Please bring shovels, gloves and buckets to plant.
We will be including a pizza lunch afterwards, thanks to Rotarian Husam Hishmeh of Dominos at 12:00pm.
There is a possibility that we will have a second tree planting location in Montecito, but that is still tentative.
If you are interested in planting trees or have any questions, please contact Wade Nomura at WadeDG1112@verizon.net
