Y.E.S. Program: Morgan Crosby
During our recent meeting, we had the pleasure of learning about the impactful Rotary Youth Engaged in Service (YES) Program, presented by an enthusiastic, Morgan Crosby. This inspiring initiative provides leadership development opportunities for high school juniors entering their senior year, emphasizing Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self," both locally and internationally.
The presentation highlighted the program's focus on community engagement, with students committing to a minimum of 80 hours of meaningful service throughout the school year. The YES Program not only benefits local organizations with hundreds of volunteer hours but also extends its reach to international service projects, such as building stoves in homes in Guatemala to replace open flame cooking, promoting safety and sustainability.
The Y.E.S. Program is front and center for our Club this year as Ahayla Knight has joined the program and will be heading to Guatemala to build these stoves. It was great to hear that Ahayla has been making great strides and impact on young students in Kim Allen’s classroom. The YES Program not only fosters personal growth and leadership skills but also encourages cultural exchange and global awareness among participants.
An invitation was presented to our club to support the YES Program through attendance at the Luck of the Irish fundraiser held this past Saturday. This event provided an opportunity to meet the students, show support for their endeavors, and foster fellowship within the community.
