It was a spooky Thursday at the Rotary Club of Arlington. Costumed Rotarians competed for prizes. The top four were Dale Duskin, Yvonne Gallardo, Bob Campbell and Paul Abramowitz, with runner up Lee Harman.
Joan Tilton kicked off Foundation month, sharing ways to support the work of Rotary in our community, region and internationally. Lee Harman reminded the club that donations to PolioPlus could be designated. Pledges of $100 per year until Polio is eradicated qualify donors as members of the PolioPlus Society.
District Governor Dave Duskin invited everyone to attend the District Conference 2025 in May at the Tulalip Resort Casino, where the Friday dinner will feature polio survivor and advocate Ramesh Ferris. November is Foundation month! This is the time of year Rotary focuses on The Rotary Foundation and foundation giving.
On October 31, we reviewed information about The Rotary Foundation. Some of the guidelines are in this email for your reference. In addition, please review the attachment which contains more detailed information.
The Rotary Foundation is our 501(c)3 that provides a tax free platform for members (and non Rotarians) to donate. The fund district and global grants and make dreams become reality all over the globe.
You choose what you want to support with your contribution.
- Annual Fund-SHARE
- Endowment-SHARE
- Polio Plus Fund
- Miles to End Polio
- Disaster Response Fund
- World Fund
- specific grant projects
When Rotarians in our District 5050 contribute to the Annual Fund-SHARE, Rotary divides up the total contributions, takes 5% for operational costs and then splits the rest equally between the World Fund and District Designated Funds (DDF). Our district can ask for up to half of its DDF for District Grants and then use the funds for grants and programs that matter most to our clubs. This formula makes The Rotary Foundation an integral part of Rotary in our communities.
When clubs or individuals want to support a District Grant or a Global Grant, the cash that our club contributes toward the project gets matched by our District 5050 with the money they receive from DDF. Then it is matched 80% by the World Fund. A project where we contribute $52,000 will be matched by DDF dollar for dollar, another $52,200. Then TRF World fund matches 80% of the DDF, or $41,760. The project gets a total contribution of $146,160. Very impressive!
Rotary will match whatever you donate to Foundation up to $500 with Recognition Points. When you accumulate a total of cash contributions and matching points that totals $1000, you earn a prestigious Paul Harris Award for yourself or to give to someone else in recognition of honorable work or achievements.
When you reach PHF+8, your contributions will go toward being a Major Donor. When you reach $250,000, then your donations qualify you as an Arch Klumph Society.
You need to know your status - how many Paul Harris Fellows, how much money you currently have in your account, how many recognition points you have saved. It's our goal to give you that information.
There are 3 ways to find out your status:
1) You can log into your account on Rotary.org (YOU SHOULD ALL HAVE AN ACCOUNT, IF YOU DON'T WE CAN HELP)
- then go to my rotary and sign in
- then go to Club Membership and Foundation reports section
- then go to individual reports
- then go to Donor History Reports which has your account information overview and transaction details of your contributions
2) Foundation Committee will distribute your personal account information on a printed form delivered to you personally at our club meetings, (or mail, or email if you have not attended club meeting). We are available to help you with your contributions and answer questions.
3) Download and use the convenient Club Runner app to access from your phone!
It is our privilege to encourage your contributions to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). It is our way of earning the important available funds we need to pay for our district and global grants.
