Classification Talks: Nicole Voshell, Kim Deisher-Allen and Kevin Raymond
The 38 members in attendance learned more about three newer members during their classification talks.
Lasagna, Pizza, Garlic Knots and Salad were on the menu as the club met offsite at Hubb’s Pizza & Pasta, hosted by the owner and Arlington Rotarian Jay Dhillon.

Nicole Voshell
Currently Business Banking Relationship Manager at Umpqua Bank (formerly Columbia Bank), and enjoys working with small business clients and fitting in some rounds of golf. Nicole joined the Club in February 2023. She loves volunteer work, and in addition to Rotary, serves on the Arlington Education Foundation Board and the Board of A Christmas Wish. She has coached girls’ volleyball at the Boys and Girls Club when her oldest daughter played on the teams.
She was born December 26, 1981 and grew up in Lake Stevens, playing soccer, basketball, softball, tennis, track and volleyball. She focused on volleyball in high school and her daughter Delanie, an Arlington High School Senior, has followed in her mother’s footsteps as a member of the volleyball team. Nicole’s youngest daughter Blake, 5, will start kindergarten in the fall. Nicole and husband Ian have been together for 17 years. The family also includes a Pomeranian named Buster and Kitty Bizzo.
Nicole’s first job was a one-month stint at McDonalds at age 15, and then two years at Papa Murphy’s until she graduated high school. She attended Edmonds Community College and continued playing volleyball. She got a summer job as a credit union teller where her mom worked, with inspiration from her grandmother who also had a banking career. She has been in banking for 23 years now, working a variety of positions from teller to commercial lender.
Kim Deisher-Allen
A month before she joined the Club, Kim Deisher-Allen was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship at the Annual Installation Dinner in recognition of her community volunteer work with a variety of organizations, including the Arlington Education Foundation, Arlington Food Bank, A Christmas Wish, Arlington High School Booster Club and Eagle Creek Elementary PTA Teacher Liaison. She was also the high school cheer coach for 12 years and served as a Court Guardian Ad Litem for 33 children. Kim loves to plan events, including three weddings that were held in her back yard.
Kim and her husband Rob have four children—Kayl, 22, Kayden, 19, Kyler, 16 and Treyanna, 15. As an elementary school teacher in Arlington for 31 years, she also has countless others through friends, foster care, and her kindergarten and first grade classes. She has degrees in Psychology and Child Development and a Masters in Special Education plus her Washington State Teachers Certification.
Kim has lived in Arlington for 38 years, moving here at age 15 following her parents’ divorce and started at Arlington High School as a Sophomore. Kim’s dad developed stage four brain cancer and she care for him until his death 12 years ago.
Even with the hours she puts in as a wife and mother, teacher and community volunteer, Kim finds time to enjoy being a soccer mom, playing pickleball, riding dirt bikes, bunco, game nights, movie nights, carnivals, travel and getting together with friends and family.
Kevin Raymond
Our newest club member Kevin Raymond joined in November2023, but has been a member of several different Rotary Clubs since first joining in 1998. Kevin and his wife, Cindy, moved to Arlington this year to be near their two daughters and two grandchildren. Their daughter Kristin is an attorney and their daughter Michelle is a school teacher. Both were presidents of their school Interact Clubs when the family lived on the East Coast.
Kevin grew up in Norton, Massachusetts, where his mom worked three jobs to support him and his two siblings. He played sports in high school including football and track, where he threw discus, javelin and shotput. He holds an “AA Degree from LaSalle Extension University.
Kevin has had two careers – 20 years in the restaurant industry and 20 years in banking. His first job was with the York Steakhouse Systems, where he earned $130 for a 60-hour week. He was also a restaurant chain manager, and his been the chief cook and shopper in the family for 20+ years,
His banking career took him to Maine and New Hampshire, where he worked in commercial lending and as a branch manager. His wife Cindy spent 14 years as a teacher working with special needs students.
The Raymonds downsized dramatically before their move to Arlington, bringing just 25% of their belongings plus their two cars with them. They enjoy hiking and traveling in addition to family and Rotary activities, and have a 35-day cruise to Hawaii and Tahiti planned in 2024.
