A Christmas Wish

30 Years of Making Christmas Brighter for Families

At our December 11 meeting, Rotarian and co-president of A Christmas Wish, Kim Deisher-Allen, gave us a history of A Christmas Wish, followed by the volunteer coordinator and vice-president, Rotarian Nicole Voshell, who told us about the work club members would be doing following the presentation.

A Christmas Wish is a community program that has provided gifts to over 650 families and 2,100 children in 2024. Co-founded by Tina Davis and Sarah Katanik, the program relies entirely on volunteers and has grown significantly, with over 70 businesses participating in this year's toy drive. The meeting highlighted the importance of community support, the logistics of toy distribution, and the personal stories of families who benefit from the program. Volunteers, including founder and co-president Sarah Katanik, shared their experiences and the emotional impact of helping families in need during the holiday season.

Sarah shared a story of a grateful mother who was relieved to receive gifts for her sons, highlighting the relief Christmas Wish brings to families. Lisa recounted how Christmas Wish helped her sister and nieces, emphasizing the program's ability to support families during tough times. Tracy, a new volunteer, shared her positive experience with A Christmas Wish and the group's cohesiveness.

Volunteers like Lisa and Tracy share their personal experiences with Christmas Wish, including shopping with parents and receiving heartfelt letters from grateful families.

Nicole, the volunteer chair, introduced the day's tasks, including stuffing candy bags and assembling scooters.
