Chelsea Saunders

One of our newest members, Chelsea Saunders, shared her background and family as our program on June 25.  Chelsea is the current Unit Director of the Arlington Boys and Girls Club. She lives in Lake Stevens.

Chelsea discussed her career journey, starting at the Boys and Girls Club as a teenager and working for various nonprofits, including the YMCA. Before becoming the Unit Director in Arlington, she served in some roles at the county level. Chelsea enjoys event planning and has served in that role in the past. She highlighted her past involvement in service organizations such as the Snohomish Kiwanis and the Everett Soroptimists.  Chelsea shared her excitement about joining the Rotary Club and her commitment to giving back. 

 

Boys and Girls Club Programs and Achievements

Chelsea provided an overview of the Arlington Boys and Girls Club programs, including summer camp and sports. She discussed implementing new initiatives, including a free library, a water-bottle fill-up station, and hot-water repairs. She highlighted the success of the small group for children with special needs, the impact of a fire sprinkler system, her vision for future improvements, and the importance of community support.

 

Fundraising and Scholarships

Chelsea discussed the financial challenges of feeding kids and the benefits of the Grocery Outlet partnership. This year's fundraising auction set a new record, raising $456,000 and surpassing the $430,000 goal.  She emphasizes the need for continued fundraising efforts to support the club's programs and initiatives.
