$5,000 Scholarships Awarded to 16 Students

Sixteen high school seniors from Arlington, Darrington and Lakewood High Schools received scholarships during the club meeting at Byrnes Performing Arts Center on June 2nd, catered by the Arlington High School Culinary Arts Program.  Fourteen of the scholarship students and their parents joined Rotarians for lunch.
 
Jen Rancourt introduced the students on behalf of the Scholarship Committee. All of the scholarship recipients are active community volunteers in addition to their participation in school programs and maintaining impressive grade point averages.
 
The scholarships were awarded to:
Madeline Andrich, Arlington, will attend Washington State University, studying animal sciences. She has served as student advisor to the school board and volunteered at several events.
Katelynn Carlson, Lakewood, will attend Western Washington University, studying music and the arts. She has been active in community theater and is Class Co-Valedictorian. She graduates with an A.A. Degree.
Kaden Davis, Arlington, will attend Washington State University, studying English and business administration with a goal of a family law career. He has been active in soccer and cross country and volunteered at the Arlington Food Bank.
Tyler Edmonds, Lakewood, will attend Oregon State University, majoring in mechanical engineering. He participated in Knowledge Bowl, tennis, Jazz Choir and was the Band Drum Major.
 
 
Jenna Estep, Arlington, will attend Western Washington University, majoring in English and History with the goal of teaching secondary education. She was active in arts, jazz choir, band, drama and the National Honor Society.
Kaylee Howe, Lakewood, will attend Lewis-Clark State College, majoring in elementary education. She was active in cross country, cheer, theater and volunteered as a peer tutor and with Project Smile, mentoring students new to the school.
Hanna Jenson, Arlington, will attend Central Washington University, majoring in business and accounting. She wants to own a breakfast café after attaining her degree. She volunteered with the National Honor Society.
Sheamin Kim, Arlington, will attend University of Washington, studying marine and animal sciences. She was active in Key Club, musical productions and volunteering at the food bank. She graduates with an A.A. degree. She is an entrepreneur, with an online crochet animal business.
Natalie Krueger, Lakewood, will attend Cal Poly University, majoring in engineering design. She played volleyball, basketball and softball, setting all conference and all school sports records. She enjoys art and sculpture and designs art on vinyl records.
Ethan Martin, Arlington, will attend the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, studying computer science, with a basketball as well as academic scholarships. He was all league in basketball and also played football and baseball. He volunteered in his church media department, at the food bank and Kids’ Closet.
Laura Meno, Arlington, will attend Clemson University majoring in finance, with a goal of joining her father as a financial advisor. She served as ASB Secretary and has volunteered on the Rotary Duck Dash and assisting with food baskets. She participated in volleyball, track and field and discus
Kiana Oos, Lakewood, will attend Western Washington University majoring in environmental studies. She is class Co-Valedictorian, and was the soccer team captain and named to all state. She volunteered as a tutor and at the food bank.  She graduates with an A.A. degree.
 
Jarron Ransford, Lakewood, will attend Northwest University. He was ASB President, cross country team captain, and volunteered at church holiday activities. He graduates with an A.A. degree and hopes to become a cross country and track coach.
Sophie Willis, Arlington, will attend Boise State University as a math major. She was third in the state in varsity basketball and volunteered at NOAH Pet Center and Eagle Creek Elementary
 
Hallie Anderson, Darrington, will attend Everett Community College. She was unable to attend the presentation.
Malia Shepherd, Arlington, will attend Everett Community College.  She was unable to attend the presentation.
