Our program on September 24 was an update on the work being done by the Arlington Community Resource Center. Peggy Ray, the Center's Director, is a member of our club.
Since the Pandemic began in March the Resource Center has not closed and has been working hard to continue to help those in need in our community. They have been helping with rental assistance, mortgage assistance, utilities, food and other needs. They have been working with the courts, fire and police in assisting people in our community.
They shared about a new program that the Resource Center has for people that have been financially secure and have been affected by the pandemic. They have been able to help people that have lost jobs or had other financial problems. They are now able to help keep bills paid and help people to stay in their homes.
In working with the homeless population the Resource Center has been able to partner with the community to help people get the resources that are needed to find hot meals, clothes and other resources. The Resource Center is able to help with the needs of pets.
The Resource Center works hard to partner with organizations in our community. They are always looking at filling the gaps in our community and continue to help people. Right now, the resource center is low on socks and are looking to help clients have warm, dry clean feet.

Socktoberfest is happening in October. If you would like a bin or would like to drop off socks at the Resource Center they would love the help.
They also have a list of other current needs that will help clients in Arlington. They have masks available to hand out, if you need some please let Peggy know. Here is a needs list:

Shop with a Cop will be happening again this year and a Christmas Dinner will be distributed to hotels in the area and the Senior Center on Christmas Day. When the meals are distributed they will distribute toys and gifts to families that have children. They are looking for anyone willing to donate time and energy into a video for the Resource Center.
The Resource Center is now located in the Village Community Services building in suite 103.
We want to thank the staff at the Resource Center for all the hard work they are doing to help people in our community.
Like all of our programs during the pandemic on Zoom, they are recorded and can be found on our YouTube Channel. For a link, click on the image below!
