Fellow Rotarians – Come celebrate the end of Summer 2020 by venturing out of our homes this Saturday, Sept. 12th, to perform a Rotarian service project. This project will be for the construction of a Gaga Pit at the Boys & Girls Club. A Gaga Pit is an octagonal pit used for playing Gaga Ball, please see the below for a definition of Gaga Ball. Gaga Ball: A fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Dubbed a kinder gentler version of dodge ball that is fun, easy, and everyone gets a serious workout. Come join us for a fun project and some fellowship on Saturday, the forecast is sunny and 78-degees. We will be serving lunch and drinks to all Rotarians and volunteers. |

Adapting and Rising! We are continuing with our honored tradition of providing holiday meal baskets to families in need this Christmas in the Arlington, Lakewood and Darrington communities. Join us Thursday, December 17th, for our traditional Christmas Basket meeting, with a variety of socially-safe service opportunities! You can chose your service option:
Please email (info@arlingtonfoodbank.org) or text (425.238.6469) Carla with the number of baskets you would like to purchase. You make a check payable to the Arlington Rotary Foundation and bring with you December 17; mail to Arlington Rotary Club, PO Box 3592, Arlington, WA 98223; or you will be billed through The Arlington Rotary Foundation. Your donation is tax deductable. We will be purchasing food directly from Grocery Outlet at a considerable discount - Thanks Mike & Mel!We are an essential industry and need volunteers! We can accommodate up to 12 volunteers during pack time, we can also rotate 'packers.' After packing, we will need delivery drivers. We are hoping to deliver 35-40 baskets in the Arlington/Lakewood area and 35 to Darrington (depending on how many baskets are purchased). When you register to attend, please indicate in the notes what volunteer task you would like to do. A more detailed list will be created once I receive RSVPs and emailed December 16th with a final confirmation of a volunteer schedule to assure proper social distancing. We plan to have a zoom meeting from the food bank so all can see the packing in action who aren't attending!During Thanksgiving distributions, we saw a 49% increase in households served. We expect the same increase for Christmas. Thank you all for continuing to make this essential tradition continue! |
