Donating Kidney to Fellow Rotarian
Dec. 06, 2018
Lyle Ryan (14-15 District Governor and member of the Rotary Club of Arlington from 1983-1986) will be sharing his story of donating one of his kidneys to a fellow rotarian Michael Walsch (District 7810). Lyle and his wife PJ, became friends with Michael and his wife Francine as part of their leadership training for the Rotary Governor path. When Lyle beame aware of the health issues that Michael was having, he wanted to help. He stepped in and learned that he was a perfect match to Mike for a donation of one of his kidneys. Shortly following the March 22, 2014 mudslide, discussions began circulating about creation of a memorial to commemorate the Oso mudslide. The intent of the memorial was to remember the lives of the 43 individuals who lost their lives, recognize the unprecedented response effort that followed the event, honor the community that was lost and provide information about the slide itself. |
