In 1985 Rotary International launched PolioPlus, the first and largest internationally coordinated private-sector support of a public health initiative, with an initial fundraising target of US$120 million, to eradicate polio world wide.  Last year the continent of Afrcia was declared polio free.  In 2021 there have only been 2 cases reported of wild polio--one in Afganistan and one in Pakistan, both in January.  Since the project was started, each year on October 24, Rotary celebrates World Polio Day in a effort to keep the project on the top of all of our minds.  Many clubs have fund raising efforts on that day.  To see what clubs are doing world wide click HERE.
