Our featured presenter on April 22nd was MacKay Potter, President of the the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society (LMDSS).

The Society was formed in 1989 and has a membership of over 600.

She explained the focus of the society is fourfold.
Support parents and families of individuals with Down Syndrome.
Educated the community 
Network with other like Organizations and individuals
Lobby for educational,vocational and cosmical opportunities for persons with Down Syndrome.

Using a powerpoint presentation she showed where the LMDSS provides support and services to families and individuals with
Networking events (like the Christmas event that we sponsor) Workshops -including adapted signing,Drumming,Music,Sexuality workshop,
iPAD workshop and more... 

They are like many of todays groups always  needing funding currently they get a Gaming Grant and support from organizations like ourselves and do fundraising events.One novel event is an on-line program "We care shopping on Line" The App allows them to receive a donation when you shop at more than 2,000 participating merchants — at no cost to you.http://lmdss.We-Care.com/Start .Just shop as you normally do, and a donation will be made — without taking a penny from your wallet. 

They also have a lending library in their office for members to get more information to understand Down Syndrome.

On tuesday we learnt a lot about one of the organizations we support through our Gaming funds.
