Please don't forget that the meeting on Wednesday, March 14 is off site at PCT.

Great to see our Guests this week.
Ryan Edgington from RBC was back again for his 3rd meeting.  Great to see him.

The Rotary Club of Port Moody has made RYLIE ABELMAN an Honorary Member.  Not only for all the Breakfast's at St. James' Well, but for all the support over the years for SFPP, Christmas train and Ribfest.  Great guy, great choice.

IAN is back.......

It was a very small group this week—just the luck of the draw with several folks snow birding and others away for short holidays.  We did have a warm welcome home for Ian who has returned from traveling the badlands of Australia followed by the snow lands of Calgary.

Ian talked about his upcoming Ecuador trip which is sponsored by a Rotary International grant Ian has been working on for more than 2 years. The grant is for a total of $177,000 and the 2 main sponsoring Clubs are our own and 1 from Calgary. It will be a long term project with teams being sent in over an extended period of time—6 first then 3 then 6 then 3 then a last of 6. The intention is to screen for and train local Doctors and medical trainees to be able to detect cervical cancer which is more prevalent there than in most countries. Part of the grant will provide access to our medical teams after they return to Canada by video and tele conferencing and other links so there will be consistent, timely followup when needed.

Because the local village women go back to work very soon after giving birth they carry their babies and young children swaddled on their backs which leads to a higher rate of hip displaysia. The team will also focus on training the medical Dr.s and student Dr.s  to better advise the women on correct swaddling and to screen for earlier recognition.

The first Medical teams will go there April 2nd and will see 200-400 patients on the first rotation.

Trudy - SUCCESS Event

The usual suspects for Heritage Mtn. Blvd. Clean-up on Saturday March 10th.  Thank you to Darrell for organizing and thank you to Yvonne who helped and also took photo.  David and his daughter and Cleone.   5 Rotarians and 8 bags of trash.  It is so good that our Rotary Club keeps this project alive.  Great visibility for our club and good for our Community.  Thanks everyone.

Another Community Grant thanked us for our donation for their new Snow Blower.  Looks like it was put to good use this winter.  NEW VIEW SOCIETY

President Mike had left us a 25 minute video presented by Deann Rohrs from 1 of the Langley clubs reminding us as Rotarians of some of the good we do in the world and the difference we make each in our own way.
