Mike opened the meeting and Gary led us with a strong performance of O’Canada. We were fortunate to have 4 guests with us today that included Kim Kak and Claire Song from our local Interact Club and introduced to us by Cleone.
In addition Karen Rockwell joined us and was introduced by Meghan
 
and Heather Oleskiw was introduced to us by Trudy. Heather volunteered at Ribfest and wanted to check us out more formally. She was originally from Hamilton, Ontario however lived in Prince George until last September.
 
 
Birthday greetings and our club wishes in song were delivered to Allan Schmelzel October 4th, Linda Balzer, October 9th, and Darrell Burnham in absentia on October 10th .
 
Announcements and week in review included a recap of our Port Coquitlam?? Club ‘s Amazing Race which featured a strong team from our club. Thank-you David, Linda, Jeannie and Gayle & Trudy.
 
Cleone announced October 11th being Community Service Meeting
 
Coreen announced that she and Yvonne have completed arrangements for our Beer & Burger fundraiser for Rotary International Polio eradication. It will be held at Burrard Public House on October 12th. Tickets available for $25 and is a joint event with other Tri-City clubs

Mike on Rotary International Tree Planting October 21st at Dawes Hill Park
 
Peter and Allan on Oktoberfest and how busy the bar was especially Saturday night. Tri-City photos included Dan & Darrell
 
Allan Schmelzel provided financial update. Results were consistent with previous year, down about 5% net with margins on beverages down as well as sponsorship dollars..
 
Yvonne announced that November 18th will be Eagle Ridge Manor Christmas decorating party.
 
Mike presented a cheque on behalf of our club for $1,000 to Kim and Claire for our local Interact club to assist them with some start-up expenses.  Interact are looking for a place to hold their meetings that would be free for them.  It is so wonderful to have these teens in our Community that want to 'give back'.  They have great ideas and are willing to 'do the work'.
 
Finally Gayle received the weekly pin acknowledging all the hard work Gayle puts into club activities and the loaded schedule she has in the coming months. She truly is a Rotarian Who Makes a Difference.
 
Terry was Sargent at Arms this week and numerous happy and one sad story were relayed. We all extended our thoughts for the affected families and friends from the Las Vegas tragedy.
 
In closing David Stone had the lucky ticket but settled for his money back by pulling the close but no cigar King of Spades.
