A Wonderful Life?

Role at First United Methodist Church: Associate Pastor: New Members, Missions & Outreach, Iron Men and Young Adults.

Started on Staff: July 2016

Education/Background: I grew up in South Arkansas and East Texas. I graduated from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas with a degree in Biblical Studies, and attended seminary at Perkins School of Theology where I received a M.Div. I am an ordained elder, and previously served as an associate minister at Arlington Heights UMC in Fort Worth.

Family: My wife, Samantha, works as an attorney for Allstate Corporation in Dallas. We have two dogs.

Favorite Scripture and why: I have many favorites, but the passage that sticks out in my mind is the story of four friends lowering the paralytic through a roof to be healed by Jesus (Mark 2 or Luke 5). Jesus honors the faithfulness, determination, and creativity of the individuals working together to help someone experience Jesus’ healing grace.

Favorite Movie: North by Northwest or any Hitchcock film.

What I like best about my ministry: I love being present to witness God move in the hearts and minds of people from all walks of life. I feel specifically called to lead the people of the congregation in sharing the love of Christ with one another. I am passionate about leading the church in reaching out to the least, the last, and the lost both around the world and within the local community.

For fun I enjoy: I race cars in a series called The 24 Hours of Lemons with some friends from college. Each car has to be purchased and prepped for only $500, so we spend more time wrenching on our jalopy than racing. Aside from cars, I like to read crime novels, travel, and spend time with Samantha.
