Mayor William D. Tate
State of the City

 

Mayor William D. Tate was elected to the Grapevine City Council in1972 and served as Mayor, originally from 1973-1985.  In 1988 he was re-elected as Mayor, a position he still serves today for a total of 43 years of service to our community!

Mayor Tate currently serves on the following committees: Crime Control and Prevention District Board, Tax Increment Financing District Reinvestment Zone No. 1 and No. 2 and the 4B Economic Development Corporation Board.

His community organization service includes the Grapevine Rotary Club and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce.  He also served as the Grapevine City Attorney, 1969-1972.

Other Areas of Interest and Awards include: Board member of the Baylor Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, Grapevine High School Hall of Fame in 1989, a Boy Scouts of America Silver Eagle Award in 2007,  the 2000 Hospitality Industry Development Award from Texas Travel Industry, the 1976 Citizen of the Year Award

Bill Tate was born and raised in Grapevine.  He is married to Betty Tate, a retired teacher from GCISD.  They have five grown daughters who are all are teachers.  He has a Law practice and title company in Grapevine, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from North Texas State University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from University of Houston and is a State Bar of Texas Member and an American Bar Association Member.
