GCISD STEM Program

The GCISD STEM Academy began at Cannon Elementary in 2012. Since then, it has grown to include offerings at Grapevine Middle School, Grapevine High School, and Colleyville Heritage High School. STEM in GCISD provides a rigorous pathway that inspires students to problem solve, innovate, take risks, create, work collaboratively, design, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learning. In the STEM Academy, students make authentic real-world connections through the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across content areas in preparation for future college and career opportunities that will empower them to envision solutions for global issues.

During the presentation, the audience will meet the principal of Cannon Elementary, Ms. Tina Garret, and Grapevine Middle School, Dr. Laura Koehler, as well as central support staff who are part of the program's success.  The highlight of the presentation will be a panel of eight GCISD students ranging from elementary through high school who will share their experiences and perspectives within this unique learning environment.
